Art is my foundation, from fine art, to print, to web. The act of creating art, no matter the medium, is what makes me happy. Using it to tell a story – to reach people and make them see something differently – is what makes being an artist so rewarding.
Artist's Statement
My goal as an artist is to transcend the everyday world and take the viewer to a place that is richer and more vibrant than “real life.” I work from reference materials and personal photos, but these are my inspiration, not my ambition for the final piece. Each piece represents not just a place or a time, but an emotion or a state of being captured in color.
My favorite mediums include acrylic paint and color pencil along with a little pastel, ink, and laser print transfer. At times they get mixed together. I also create illustrations using Adobe Illustrator. Sometimes I draw by hand, scan it in, and then turn it into vector art with Illustrator. I also draw right in Illustrator. Which technique I use depends on the final use of the illustration.
Why yes, I am available to make custom art or a custom illustration for you. My art has been used on book covers, posters, gift bags, Christmas ornaments – the possibilities are endless.
